Radiochemical Processing

Radiochemical processing experience spans the design, operation, and improvement of systems handling highly radioactive materials in both research and production environments. Expertise includes solvent extraction, ion exchange, and centrifugal contactor technologies applied to actinide and fission product separations. Work has supported nuclear waste treatment, fuel recycling, and medical isotope production under strict safety and regulatory requirements. This background enables practical solutions that balance chemistry, equipment performance, and operational reliability.

Nuclear Waste Treatment

Nuclear waste treatment experience includes the design, evaluation, and operation of systems managing highly radioactive and chemically complex waste streams. Expertise spans actinide removal, cesium separation using solvent extraction, and integration of waste processing systems within large DOE facilities. Work has involved Cognizant System Engineering responsibilities, system health monitoring, and support for construction, testing, and commissioning activities. This experience supports reliable, compliant treatment of radioactive waste while reducing operational risk.

Medical Radio Isotope Production

Contributed to process design and radioactive material handling for Mo-99 recovery using low-enriched uranium (LEU)–modified Cintichem purification from neutron-irradiated uranyl sulfate and nitrate solutions. Supported process design for Lu-177 recovery, including cGMP purification by HPLC and recovery and recycling of isotopically enriched Yb-176 feedstock. Defined analytical instrumentation and laboratory utility requirements supporting radiochemical production and quality control operations. Established cGMP validation requirements for Quality Control and Analytical Laboratories for a commercial medical isotope production facility.
